Events
For the most part, I am
is taking the project into schools
delivering code breaking workshops to students. However, in the past the project has visited
more diverse audiences in a range of establishments. I am happy to visit any institution, including Scout and Guide groups, Cadet Corps, Museums, Libraries, and Family learning initiatives. Please contact Claire Greer if you
would like to book a visit to your establishment.
Families
Previously, the Enigma project has brought workshops to museums and libraries, including Brighton Museum and the Science Museum
in London. Some schools have also organised after school talks for families
(parents are always keen to see the Enigma machine). These events offer an
ideal opportunity for parents to become involved in their children's numeracy,
or can be a social fund raising event.
Adults
Adult talks about the Enigma have been presented at museums. Another popular event has been a pre-screening talk about the Enigma machine before the showing of the film 'Enigma'. Additionally, the project has taken the talk to members of adult community
groups, including retirement fellowships and clubs such as Amateur Radio groups.
Teachers
I am also available to speak about how codes can be used in the maths classroom and have previously led
workshops at several teachers' conferences. The Enigma project can offer teachers ideas for
extending codes into areas of the National Curriculum as well as cross-curricular
links. The CD-ROM makes a great educational tool, and I will demonstrate its worth
in the Maths classroom.
