The Enigma Talk

I have a genuine German Enigma cipher
machine,
and if I am talking about
cryptography then it is likely to be my
star prop.

Schools and the Enigma Project

I think cryptography is an excellent way of getting young people interested in Maths, Science and History and my Enigma machine really brings the science of code breaking to life. However, I was finding that I was just too busy to visit as many schools as I would have liked.

I have now lent my Enigma machine to Claire Greer so that she can take codes and code breaking into the classroom much more frequently. Claire Greer is touring schools in South East England and beyond, giving talks and demonstrations about code breaking and the Enigma machine. Claire Ellis has developed a series of workshops for Years 5 and 6 based on historical themes - the Romans, the Victorians and WW2.

The Enigma Project also includes talks for older pupils and adults. If you would like further information, then you can visit the Enigma Project section of the site.

Corporates & Conferences
The Enigma can also be hired for exhibitions or by companies, and if I am available then I can give talks at conferences, to employees or to senior executives. This is the greatest prop in the world, and people tend to go weak at the knees when they see an Enigma machine. It is the ideal centrepiece for talks that I give on Security In The Information Age or on the History of Cryptography. The Enigma machine can also be hired as an extravagant prop to kick-start a crypto talk that you might be giving.

To find out more about hiring me or the Enigma or both, then please visit the Corporate & Conference section.
